2015 Recap

What a year!

2015 was probably the busiest I’ve been so far in my career, and hopefully there’s more to come. There were so many amazing collaborations that I was blessed to be a part of. Here’s a quick rundown:

I got to work with Gail Simone and Dynamite Entertainment on the epic crossover series, Swords of Sorrow. Not only did I script and write two of the one shot tie-ins (Kato & Masquerade with the fabulous G. Willow Wilson of Ms. Marvel fame, and my own Black Sparrow & Lady Zorro), but I lettered the entire 21-book crossover. That was an undertaking, let me tell you.

Lettering this crossover gave me the inside track to see scripts from the talents of Gail, Willow, Mairghread Scott, Nancy Collins, Emma Beeby, Leah Moore, Mikki Kendall, and Marguerite Bennett. Don’t forget that the ENTIRE Swords of Sorrow crossover will be available this January! Order now!

One of my Swords of Sorrow cohorts, the amazing Leah Moore (Dejah Thoris & Irene Adler), asked me to letter some stories for Electricomics! If you’re not familiar withElectricomics, they launched earlier this year with four incredibly interactive and interesting digital comics. The two stories I lettered were called Red Horse, written by Garth Ennis, and Big Nemo in Slum Land written by the one and only Alan Moore. It was amazing to work with two of the biggest names in comics. Thank you, Leah, for the opportunity of a lifetime!

On top of all that amazingness, I made my writing debut with DC/Vertigo in Vertigo Quarterly SFX #1 “Pop.” Sara Richard was my amazing partner in crime on a story titled “Pop Goes the World.” You should definitely check it out.

After having so much fun with Winston Churchil and talking dinosaurs in The Unauthorized Biography of Winston Churchill: A Documentary, Claire Connelly and I took another spin on the merry go round with Cheese: A Love Story. It’s Romeo and Juliet meets Animal Farm, and it’s making a splash already.

This October at New York Comic Con, Red Stylo Media unveiled  27, A Comic Anthology centered around rock music’s infamous 27 Club. My Robert Johnson inspired story is one of many filling this rocking hardcover anthology book. You should check out ALL the other Red Stylo anthologies, too!

So that’s all for 2015, but there’s plenty already in the mix for 2016.

So here’s to a great end to 2015 and a safe, healthy, happy, and prosperous 2016. Thanks, all!
